Athom gathered the most votes in the online election of the ‘ING Startup of the Year 2014’-award. With this, they’ve defeated Blendle amongst others. The entrepreneurs and founders of Athom, Stefan Witkamp and Emile Nijssen (both 22 years old), are committed to the perfectioning of their product Homey. In 2014 they’ve launched a Kickstarter-campaign, raising over € 100.000,- within two days. According to Nijssen, no other Dutch project raised that high amount within such a period. After completion of the campaign, funds totalled over €200.000,-.
