One month into 2021 the COVID-19 pandemic continues to significantly impact our lives. Since March 2020 we have worked very hard to realise a safe working environment and host events in a responsible way at our entrepreneurial campus. In this news item, we would like to share our efforts over the past year including our newest project with you.  

After several months in lockdown, we were excited to adjust our event spaces to safe rooms for small gatherings back in June. We did so while carefully following all the guidelines set by the national institute for health and environment (RIVM) to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Among others, our venue capacity was adjusted with a guaranteed 1.5m distance, directional floor markings and signs were placed to create a safe flow of movement and we invested in possibilities to host events (partially) via a livestream. Together with one of the startups from our community we created a video that shows these special preventive measures. 

During the first half of 2020, we also designed innovative ways to keep in touch with our network of entrepreneurs as much as possible. Besides the possibilities to host your online event with the help of Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship, we also hosted several webinars for the community ourselves. The topics ranged from entrepreneurial skills to innovation leadership, especially in times of economic downturn, facilitated by our Programme Director Dr. Ferdinand Jaspers. Next to that, we offered flexible office spaces to entrepreneurs who experienced difficulties while working from home. 

While we strongly believe in the power of physical gatherings, at the moment the options to actively maintain the community through physical meetups and events are limited. That’s why we continue to offer entrepreneurs all kinds of online alternatives! Namely, while we normally include a flexible workspace as part of our Erasmus Business Membership through which we support entrepreneurs with developing their startup at their own pace, they can now be part of our community from the comfort of their own home! 

Introducing our brand-new Virtual Business Membership, you can enjoy the benefits of having your business address and mailbox for company registration at the Chamber of Commerce, while you can keep working in the safest way possible: from your own home! At the same time you will be part of the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship community through (1) our online communication platform Bisner, (2) (online) feedback from fellow entrepreneurs and ECE facilitators during our monthly accountability sessions and (3) access to a network of coaches and experts in different fields to support you while you work on developing your startup at your own pace.
