It’s time to look back at another eventful year. With over 300 hosted events, several new tenants that joined our community and physical changes at our entrepreneurial campus, there is enough to discuss in this campus overview of 2021.

Welcoming students and entrepreneurs

Even though we didn’t say goodbye to COVID yet, it didn’t stop us from welcoming over 8.500 guests in a safe way in 2021. After the lockdown beginning of this year, we were happy to (first) welcome back students of our partners of Erasmus University Rotterdam, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus School of Accounting and Assurance and Albeda College.

In the summer, we fortunately could host bigger events again, among others the Young Lady Business Academy and gatherings by our own community such as de Rotterdamse Zorg and UC Group.

The absolute highlight was the physical event of our own Top250Scaleups on the 6^th of October. For the first time, the award ceremony of our research together with nlgroeit took place at our campus on the ground floor, in a space where a week prior to the event there wasn’t even internet, electricity or even a floor. Together with BrightQontent, we made an aftermovie so we can always look back on this amazing day.

Expanding our community

With 100+ startups that are part of our innovative community, this year we further developed our network! We added several tenants to our campus over the last 12 months and are excited to highlight some of them.

Early this year, HubClub joined our community and it was amazing to see their development over the last few months! They provide an innovative solution for working today: One subscription that allows you unlimited flexible working at the best coworking spaces in Rotterdam.

With Shei & Sue, we now have a creative marketing studio for fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands in house! And with a team of engineers and creatives, Unpluq strives to using our smartphone less and want us to find balance again in a world where these devices have slowly take over control.

Gale Solutions B.V. is the last startup that joined our community this year. With their slogan ‘don’t work for data, make your data work for you’ they aim to develop solutions that make your business faster, more efficient, and make the lives of your employees easier.

Bringing our campus to the next level

After recording several successful podcasts last year, in Q1 we decided to bring this to a higher level with our own studio! Over the last months, we launched our own podcast series and welcomed guests to host their podcast, webinar or online meeting at the ECE Studio. We have all the facilities and equipment you need to help you out.

Important changes have also been made to the Rotterdam Science Tower itself. Besides the beautiful renovation of the ground floor, Kadans Science Partner became the new tower owner. Currently, Kadans is busy with making the building more sustainable and creating new high-quality office- and laboratory spaces. And together with their event team, we’re making a planning for all kinds of exciting community activities for 2022.

We’re excited for what the new year will bring us. For now, we’re already proud to see that our event schedule is filled with over 100 business events and that we may welcome several new tenants again in January.
