Erasmus University (EUR) alumnus in top 5 most innovative companies of the Netherlands
Last Thursday, 21st of September, the Chamber of Commerce has published the 12th edition of the top 100 most innovative companies of 2017. This year, Housing Anywhere, founded by EUR alumnus Niels van Deuren, has successfully made it to the 4th place. Besides that, we can also congratulate Lennart van der Ziel since his company, Travis Translator, is also listed in the top 100.
Niels van Deuren started Housing Anywhere in 2009, at that time he was a student at the EUR. What began as a platform where outgoing exchange students can rent out their room, is now expanded to a platform where supply and demand of room for international students meet each other. Now, the platform provides around 900,000 rooms in more than 200 cities around the world.
Also EUR alumnus Lennart van der Ziel has successfully reached the top 20. His startup, Travis Translator (18th on the list), has developed a device that is able to translate and speak 80 languages. It is the first translating device with artificial intelligence.
ECE is conducting research on fast growing companies in the Netherlands. Early this year, ECE has released it’s own list of the top 250 scale ups of the Netherlands. Our goal is to build a close community of alumni involved in entrepreneurship. Is your company part of the list and did you study at Erasmus University? Let us know! More information on ECE’s scale up research can be found here.
