ECE Scale-up research: 288 fast growing companies in Rotterdam region
The region of Rotterdam has 288 fast growing companies (scale-ups); almost 40 percent of the total amount of scale-ups in the Dutch province South Holland. With their growth, they have created almost 7,100 jobs during the period 2011-2014. This is shown by the research done by prof. dr. Justin Jansen, Academic Director of the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship, by commission of the Municipality of Rotterdam.
The sectors Wholesale, Retail, Business Services and Hightech Systems contain the biggest companies who are fast growing. Within the Hightech Systems sector the number of scale-ups is also on the rise.
Companies like Coolblue (with Pieter Zwart, member of ECE’s advisory board), Mendix (with Derek Roos, EUR alumnus) and Temporary Works Design (Rotterdam Science Tower resident) are mentioned scale-ups within the report.
