Yes, that’s right! We may finally welcome, in a safe way, entrepreneurial education programmes, events and meetings back at our campus again. Over the last few months, we spent a lot of time re-designing our event spaces to welcome students, professors, entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs.

This Monday we kicked off the new academic year and invited our community to have a fresh cup of coffee and breakfast snack out our new Swinckels Bar on the 11^th floor, of course with enough distance.

More students at our entrepreneurship campus

This semester, more educational programmes from our Erasmus University, among others, are taking place at our campus. This includes the minor Future Learning with Technology: Prototyping and Design from ErasmusX, courses from Erasmus School of Economics and several (Post-) Masters programmes from the Erasmus School of Accounting and Assurance. We also welcomed the graduates of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences.

Adding new members to the ECE community!

We are happy to see that the community continues to grow. We added Staan Finance to our community, who already had a team working in Amsterdam, but wanted to expand and create a department in Rotterdam. Our neighbours, the ‘Bierfabriek’, are also working here from September onwards. They will open a brand new location at ‘Stadshaven Brouwerij Rotterdam’ from April 2021, but will already be brewing from January 2021 onwards. We are excited that the M4H area will have a huge brewery, including a tasting room and terrace on the water. The brewery will have a starting capacity of twenty thousand [IK2] hectolitres per year. Converted to two million litres of beer, this will make it the largest brewery in Rotterdam.

Since this month, we also have the team of LEF Media working on the 8th floor of the ECE Campus, specialised in creating business vlogs. Lieke van der Plas, founder LEF Media, said the following about why they chose ECE Campus as their first office:

“We immediately fell in love with the large window with the view and liked how we were welcomed by ECE and the other tenants. It’s great to be part of the startup community on the 8th floor, although you will often probably find us in the elegant meeting rooms and bar area on the 11th floor or playing table tennis on the 5th floor ; -). And the planning for the restaurant downstairs also looks very promising.”

Development of the ground floor

In the past months, a lot of progress has been made with the renovation on the ground floor. We already have a brand new elevator shaft. A lot more work still has to be done in the upcoming months and we look forward to the amazing end result.
